The Cincinnati Wolfhounds Rugby Club will start practicing for the 2008 Fall Season August 7th at 6:30 PM at Brimelow Fields. Practices will continue every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 - 8:30. The Wolfhounds will be playing at Paul Brown Stadium at halftime of the Bengals/Lions game on August 17th and will be facing a very tough Louisville team the following week to get ready for a very tough fall schedule against South Side Irish, Buffalo, and newcomers Detroit Tradesmen. About the Wolfhounds:
The Wolfhounds are proudly sponsored by ProSource, Beacon Orthopaedic, Oxford Phyiscal Therapy and the Mt. Adams Pavilion. Originally, the Wolfhounds were founded in 1974 with a core of college alumni players from the University of Cincinnati, Xavier University, and Miami (Ohio) University. Since its founding, the team has enjoyed great success, being in the Mid-America Championships 17 times, winning the Ohio XVs more than a dozen times, and appearing in the Men's National Club Championships Sweet 16 in 1996, 1999, 2002 and the Elite 8 in 2005.
The Cincinnati Wolfhounds pride themselves on excellent Rugby fundamentals, high overall fitness, mental and physical stamina, and teamwork. These essentials form the basic elements for Wolfhound coaching techniques. As a result, Wolfhound coaching has produced U.S. Eagles, North American 4, Junior Eagles, Midwest Territory players, and Ohio Select Side players. Luke Gross, the most capped Eagle ever, began as a Wolfhound.
